Team 1 Keegan hung on to beat a luckless Team 4 Hailes with wins for Jesse Keegan, Lindsay Mahlo, Chris Doucas, Mark James, Darren Wooding, Katie Hailes, Mac Thompson and Brendan Stuart played well, while Matt Wilson and James Cole played out an epic with the former winning by one point in the decider after 82 minutes on court.
Team 3 Howarth upset Team 2 Brayne with wins for Glenn Atkinson, Scott Baker, Jarrod Collett, Lawry Brayne, Scott Shepherd, Lyle Davis, Tom Belmonte and Tim Howarth, while Luke Holden lost his cool on numerous occasions but eventually settled to beat Albert Cavalli in five long games.
Team 5 Elliot beat Team 6 Garlick with wins for a barnstorming Morgan Mahlo, Steve Elliot, Chris Elkington, Brett Mahlo, Rory Daburger, Sonya Fitzgerald, Matt Showels and Kial Huysmans lost his temper on his way to going down to popcorn baron Kynan Baker in four, while the stage was set for a classic match between Grant Michell and Matt Garlick.
That was until Matt collected Grant on the hand during a follow through in the second game with Matt leading one-nil. The impact chipped one of Grants nails forcing him to retire hurt leaving the huge crowd extremely disappointed.
