A good majority of players represented our club, braving the snow and icy conditions of the roads, last weekend to make the journey over to Forbes to contest their Seniors Tournament.
We sent two men's teams and one ladies team including Rick Taylor, Daniel Kozul, Anthony Miklich, Graham Hayne, Brett Campbell, Sam Radojocic, Chrissie Kjoller, Rochelle Hogan, Janet Davenport and Lindy Crossley.
All players had to contend with the cold conditions and patchy showers on the Saturday but managed to get all matches finished.
On the Sunday we got half the day played but then the rain set in and play was cancelled for the day, after which presentations were made to the winners.
Congratulations to the West Wyalong team who were the winners of the A Grade Ladies, with second place going to Tumut.
The A grade men's winners were Dubbo, second place getters were Bathurst and third was Albury. The B grade men's winners were Camden and second were Canberra. C grade men's winners were Canberra, with Forbes taking out second place.
Even though our teams didn't bring any prizes home, we all thoroughly enjoyed the tennis and the friendliness of the Forbes Tennis Club.
The dinner and socializing on the Saturday night was another highlight.
A special mention goes to Lyndy Cannon from Forbes, who does an outstanding job by receiving all entries and also thanks to her band of helpers over the entire weekend, along with the ladies in the canteen for all their yummy homemade country cooking which kept going over the weekend.
On Tuesday, the sixteen kids took to the courts for their weekly Turn Up Competition and they are just loving it.
The nights are less dark now so no need for courts lights. Ronan Porter was the winner of the boys this week on 24 games along with Stephanie Gersbach also landing on 24 games as the girls' winner.
The continuing good crowd of players attended the Winter Warmers Comp on Wednesday night.
Winners were the consistent combination of brothers Nick and Max Powell who finished with a near perfect three sets/22 games.
There was a tie for second spot with the pairings of Elizabeth Grady and Daniel Kozul and Andy Cannon and Rod Buesnel both finishing with one set/12 games.
On Thursday this week there was a sunny day for the Ladies to enjoy their Social morning. Play starts at 9am for all interested players.
On Sunday Mixed Social will be on as usual at 1.30pm, with committee man Josh Ristvej to put on the sets for the afternoon.
Prior to Social, will be a Committee meeting commencing at 12.30pm in the Clubhouse. All apologies can be directed to any committee member.
The weekly Spinna Winna raffles at the Orange Ex-Services Club are being held on Sunday from 10am.
Tennis club reps to sell the tickets this time will be Chrissie Kjoller and Brett Campbell.
On a sad note, we recently lost one of our past players.
Lena Cornish was a lovely lady who loved her tennis and since retiring from the game, especially liked the socializing with the Wednesday and Thursday ladies social groups.
