The Boomers will field the most talented team ever assembled in Australian basketball when they compete at the upcoming World Cup in China.

Despite being without Ben Simmons, Thon Maker, Dante Exum and Ryan Broekhoff, the Boomers' squad is still oozing with NBA talent.

Andrew Bogut, Joe Ingles, Patty Mills, Aron Baynes and Matthew Dellavedova form the core of the side, and Perth Wildcats big man Kay said there had been no egos among the big guns.

"Part of the Boomers culture is that egos are left at the door," Kay said.

"You want to play for your mates, and that's what we're doing.

"It's about doing it for your country. You can't have an ego when you play for your country. You're doing it for everyone out there."

Australia's road to the World Cup begins on Friday night when they take on Canada in a warm-up game at Perth's RAC Arena.

The two teams will lock horns again on Saturday night.

Boomers assistant Luc Longley said the coaching staff will use the games to experiment heavily.

"The point of the exercise on the weekend is to look at different line-ups," Longley said.

"This is really a shake the tree and see what falls to the ground sort of a situation this early in a campaign.

"We've got ideas from practice about who plays well together and what combinations work. So we'll be playing around with that."

Most of Canada's big-name players have pulled out of their World Cup squad, leaving the team with potentially just two NBA players.
