These public events are being held in conjunction with the Museum's current exhibition, All in a Day's Work, which features photographs from the Central Western Daily Negative Collection from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Both photojournalists are members of Oculi, an Australian based collective of award winning visual storytellers offering a narrative of contemporary life.

Matthew Abbott works locally and internationally for editorial clients including The Washington Post, The Guardian, Vice and Al Jazeera.

Dean Sewell has been the recipient of three World Press Photo Awards, and often concentrates on environmental issues and the social implications of globalization.

While their work is unique, Matthew and Dean share a conviction: to reveal the beauty, wonder and struggle within everyday life and to show the extraordinary in the ordinary.

On Friday, August 23 from 6pm, Matthew and Dean will give a public lecture on Contemporary Photojournalism, speak about their experiences, show examples of their work and reflect on the Museum's exhibition All in a Day's Work.

This talk is open to the public, and tickets cost $10 (including refreshments).

On Saturday, August 24, the photographers will lead a full day workshop in the West Room (adjacent to Orange Regional Gallery) on Visual Storytelling and Photography in regional Australia.

Participants with any level of experience will learn techniques for developing story ideas through documentary photography, be able to ask questions about the industry and receive a review and guidance on their current projects.

Places are limited in this workshop and tickets are $150.

Both events will provide a fascinating insight into the work of two of Australia's leading photojournalists.
