A 38-year-old man is in hospital with a possible bleed on the brain after the bike he was riding wheeled out into oncoming traffic on the Bathurst Road.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Bathurst Road and Nunns Avenue at around 6pm on Wednesday night following a collision between a Holden and a bicycle.

Witnesses say the man was riding the bicycle south bound on a footpath parallel to Bathurst Road when he rode on to the road and was hit by the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was a 59-year-old male from Orange.
The bicycle rider was treated on the scene before being taken to Orange Hospital.
He sustained a number of abrasions and a laceration that required stitches as well as a possible bleed on the brain.
Police couldn't confirm if the injured 38-year-old was wearing a helmet.
Police say investigations into the accident are continuing, with the injured bicycle rider yet to be questioned following the accident. No charges have been laid.
