That's the view of the Orange Rail Action Group which has gained renewed hopes for a second service after meeting NSW Trainlink executives this week.
Spokesman Neil Jones said Acting CEO of Trainlink Dale Merrick had given an indication it could happen once a new train maintenance centre was completed at Dubbo.
That is due to happen in 2023 and would coincide with the introduction of the new regional train fleet.
This is the first indication we've had coming from NSW Trainlink, not a politician, that this is a possibility.

"ORAG representatives were encouraged by the announcement that following the completion of the Dubbo Rail Maintenance Facility and the introduction of the new trains, it was possible an early morning service from Dubbo via Orange to Sydney could be introduced. This has been one of ORAG's main objectives," he said.
"This is the first indication we've had coming from NSW Trainlink, not a politician, that this is a possibility," he said.
Mr Jones said ORAG would continue to push for the Bathurst Bullet service to be continued to Orange and be serviced overnight in Orange, rather than its current base in Lithgow.
He said in the meantime they hoped a bus connection could be provided to and from Orange to Bathurst to meet with the planned second Bathurst Bullet train which had been announced by the state government.
Mr Jones said they hoped an announcement might happen soon.
He said they were also told track upgrades were being considered.
Mr Jones said a team of Trainlink executives met with ORAG and other rail action groups from around NSW in Goulburn this week.
He said it was the first time it had happened.
"This new era of consultation, we were quite gobsmacked at it," he said.
Mr Jones said it has also been arranged the combined rail action groups would meet bi-annually and would hold an annual meeting with Trainlink executives.
NSW Trainlink was contacted for comment.
