Gilchrist Business Brokers director Dan Maley said the circa-1865 hotel had attracted some initial interest after being listed last week.

Mr Maley would not reveal the asking price but said it would be sold as freehold and as vacant possession.

He said he expected after it was sold it would continue to be a hotel but he said that would be up to the eventual buyer.

The pub is being marketed as "an exceptional country style tavern which is easy to control and manage."

It is listed as having six "active" poker machines as several of the machines from the hotel have been transferred to the Robin Hood Hotel.

A spokesman for Liquor and Gaming NSW said an application had been approved for the transfer of six gaming machine entitlements.

"This took the Robin Hood Hotel's gaming machine threshold from 20 to 26 entitlements, and the Gladstone Hotel's from 15 to six," he said.

The spokesman said the transfer had also led to the Gladstone losing another three machines.

"Typically when gaming machines are moved from one venue to another, one in three is forfeited," he said.

"Due to this requirement, the Gladstone Hotel has forfeited three gaming machine entitlements from a total of nine.

"This scheme continues to reduce the number of gaming machines in NSW."

In NSW, hotels are restricted to a maximum of 30 gaming machines.

All transfers of gaming machine entitlements need to be approved by the NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority.

The latest Liquor and Gaming NSW figures (January 2019) show the Ophir Hotel has the most poker machine entitlements in Orange with 29.

It is now followed by the Robin Hood with 26 and the Royal Hotel with 23.

There are 160 poker machines at the 12 hotels in Orange and Lucknow in the Orange City Council boundaries.

A further 311 poker machines are at the six licenced club premises in Orange, although 15 of these were at the now-closed Wentworth Golf Club building which was destroyed by fire in May.

The Gladstone and Robin Hood hotels were contacted for comment.
