The council decided to send mayor Kevin Beatty, councillor Ian Davison and general manager Brad Byrnes to the Inland Rail Conference planned for Toowoomba in the interests of finding out how Cabonne might be able to connect.
Orange City Council had previously expressed no interest in attending due to the distance, but councillor Paul Mullins said the implications for Molong might happen "sooner than we think" because it would have to be connected up.
Councillor Davison queried almost $5 million in unspent funds from last financial year and was told resourcing would be looked at - the funds were brought forward to the current financial year.
Councillors also debated a $500 donation to the Canowindra Phoenix, in the absence of former publisher and councillor Cheryl Newsom after she declared an interest, given the Christmas in July event had already occurred, but were told the council had delayed the donation deliberately and the money was passed.
