In travel, 'Running on empty' will likely find you out of fuel before the next top up point in your journey.
It should be avoidable but still happens. In this experience the journey stops until help arrives or is found.
This illustration pertains to other areas in life including relationships, family, friends and workmates and what they hope from you. 'Running on empty' means to continue to do something even though you have no energy left, no energy within.
Finding what gives soul to our life is important. The stuff we can collect, our wealth, all of which is perishable, will not keep us from emptiness of soul or from disconnection.
If life is about only collecting stuff, it will be empty. Meaning lies beyond what we possess or how much we possess.
The Good Book notes, "All people are like grass and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall-over, but the word of the Lord stands for ever."
Nurturing your soul is about topping up your soul with the word of the Lord.
It is food for the soul that sees heart and mind grow as your connection with God grows. Taking to heart the word of the Lord will refresh the soul and how you live.
Since the time of Adam's waywardness in the garden of Eden, all humans are born with the capacity for 'seeing' what is not there and not 'seeing' reality as it is.
We miss the mark and with that comes emptiness. Connecting with God changes that.
He lifts our soul or spirit.
