Maximum temperatures were cooler than normal due to a strong cold front that continued to bring brisk winds to the region and halted daytime heating, contributing to Orange's abnormally low top temperatures.

Saturday's maximum was 5.1 degrees Celcius while Sunday's top temperature hit just four degrees - which is five degrees below the July average.

While the feels-like temperature was wickedly low, hovering in the minuses most of Sunday afternoon before cracking -6.1 as the low cloud and freezing winds took hold at about 3.30pm.

Orange enjoyed a light dusting of the predicted snow fall on Saturday as well and, with the outlook for the rest of the week also looking a touch bleak, meteorologists aren't ruling out more snow on Wednesday and possibly Thursday, although the chances are somewhat slim.

"The outlook in the next few days for snow is decreasing, especially by next weekend," Weatherzone meteorologist Scott Morris said.

"There could be a few snow showers, but that will be more unlikely further in the week too."
