The library will trial an event which will allow readers of Felicity Mclean's The Van Apfel Girls are Gone to further immerse in the mystery, and all book lovers to explore the library after hours.
From 7-9pm, Library Up Late will become a hub for scenes from the first One Library, One Book project novel.
Orange City Librarian Sean Brady said the book would come to life through the performances of Jamie Kaye, Nicholas Tarpey and Amelia Punch.
"Keen theatre goers will recognise their names from local productions," he said.
Mr Brady said the plan was to continue to use the library as a performance space for quirky, avant-garde and literary-based events.
"Following the performance, there will be an opportunity to interact with some of the more diverse elements of our library's collection, through an engaging installation of curated objects," he said.
Orange City Council's Services Policy Committee Chair Cr Stephen Nugent said it's important for the library to try different ways of staying in touch with the community.
"Thousands of Orange residents have visited the library to borrow a book or look at resources, but I'm not sure many would have gone through the doors after hours" Cr Stephen Nugent said.
Refreshments from local producers will be served.
This free event is for 18 years and over.
Please book your place online through Eventbrite or call the Library on 6393 8132.
