Our new exhibition All in a Day's Work features an interactive play space for kids to explore and experiment with the uniforms and tools used by Orange's workforce in the past and present.
This six-metre long magnet wall features a colourful design by Orange's own Biddy Maroney of WBYK and uses the paper doll concept that many visitors would be familiar with from their own childhood.
There is also a free kids' activity booklet, where children can follow a trail around the Museum and complete a series of challenges based on photographs on display.
Make up your own front page headline, draw the firefighter's big brass helmet and read the captions to find out the former names of a famous factory in our city.
If you're looking for something a little more structured then Orange Regional Museum is also running a number of children's workshops drawing inspiration from All in a Day's Work across the school holidays.
For technology lovers, the All in a Day's Code exhibition will run on Wednesday, July 10 and Wednesday, July 17 and $5 will guide children aged 8-12 years through coding their own time travel adventure using Scratch and photographs from the exhibition.
In the Mystery Bag Invention Challenge on Thursday, July 11 budding engineers and creative spirits aged 6-12 years will be encouraged to craft their own invention to solve a problem faced by an Orange local from the past in this free to interact with exhibition.
If you have children younger than six, drop in to our all-ages Mini Makers at ORM sessions on Thursday, July 18 from 10am-12pm or from 1pm-3pm to create a more traditional paper doll based on the magnetic characters in the interactive play space.
While the Floor Talk - All in a Day's Work will be run on Friday, July 26. You can join exhibition curator Liz Edwards for a guided tour.
As spaces are limited in all our school holiday programs, please book online via Orange Regional Museum's Eventbrite page: https://orangemuseum.eventbrite.com.au.
