An Orange woman is one of eight people charged after they were allegedly caught trying to smuggle opioid strips, cannabis, tobacco, a syringe, knives, a baseball bat and a crystal, ice-like substance into two Wellington jails.

The 35-year-old woman was charged with supplying drugs and attempting to bring a prohibited item into the prison.
The eight people were charged an operation between on Saturday and Sunday which was conducted by Orana Mid-Western Police and NSW Corrective Services at Wellington and Macquarie Correctional Centres.
The seven other men and women charged were from Dubbo, Bourke, Wellington and Griffith.
As part of the operation 408 visitors were screened using drug detection dogs, while 126 vehicles were searched and 239 people had personal property searched during the exercise.

- A 21-year-old Bourke woman charged with supplying drugs and bringing a prohibited item in.
- A 25-year-old Dubbo woman charged with supplying drugs and introducing bringing a prohibited item in.
- A 28-year-old Griffith woman charged with two outstanding first instance warrants.
- A 28-year-old Wellington man charged with two first instance warrants and possessing heroin.
