Owner of Factory Espresso, Nick Gleeson, confirmed on Monday he had spoken to his tired brother Tom, who had agreed to headline one of the cafe's upcoming comedy nights, as promised.
Tom took home the gold Logie after a campaign which mocked both the awards and the industry.
The local Gleesons got behind the Hard Quiz host, in an effort to boost his public vote and get him back to Orange.
I thought 'oh god, here we go this could go either way'
- Nick Gleeson
Tom accepted his Gold Logie with a glass of wine in hand, suggesting he'd "ruined the Logies".
"It's never going to happen again," he told the crowd at the Star Casino on the Gold Coast. "Our industry is dying, and I'm part of that!"
Nick said watching at home with wife Ruby he'd felt just a little anxious at the sight.
"I thought 'oh god, here we go this could go either way'," he said.
With Tom announcing he was axing his own ABC game show in the lead up to the awards - a move designed so he could win a Logie without having a show on air - Nick said he imagines Hard Quiz will be the priority.
"Then he assures me it's Orange after that," he said.
Nick said he was "on the edge of my couch" during the awards.
"When it was announced I was dancing around my lounge room. I haven't had that much physical exertion since 'the winner is Sydney' [2000 Olympics announcement]" he said.
Nick said while Tom's appearance would be a big one, all the fortnightly comedy shows had been a hit with audiences.
"Trust in the night," he said. "It's always going to be fun."
