Team 4 Kidson stunned Team 1 Keegan with wins for father and son Jesse and Mick Keegan, Pat Clarkstone, Belinda Thurtell, Lyle Davis and Tom Belmonte, while Brock Gannon showed his stamina by winning two extra matches in one night.
Chris Elkington and Graham Kidson always seem to find something special when they clash and this encounter proved no different.
Elkington shot out to a 2-1 lead and held eight match points before Kidson somehow clung on to win the decider 17-16, leaving the crowd in rapture.
The cocky Team 2 Atkinson won well against Team 3 Hannan with victories for Glenn Atkinson, Lindsay Mahlo, Scott Burke, Kynan Baker, Rhonda Cavalli, Steve Blackwood and the colourful John Hannan, while Albert Cavalli finally fulfilled his lifelong dream of beating Kym Knight after 11 previous unsuccessful attempts.
The dark horses, Team 5 Garlick, defeated Team 6 Collett with wins for Morgan Mahlo, Peter Brearley, Michael Abberton, Jarrod Collett, Peter Hanlon, Mac Thompson and Judd Felsher, while Craig 'Doogie' Hausler played well for his win.
In the battle of the big men Tim 'I am not moving out of the way' Howarth went out to a two-game lead against Matt 'I'm not moving either' Garlick.
Garlick settled and took it to a fifth, with the court suddenly seeming tiny as the pair refused to give an inch. He eventually stole the win in a tie-break, leaving Howarth wondering where his next victory will come from.
