Life Studio easily accounted for the two blues in Saturday afternoon's seventh round, winning 57-36, with the sixth-placed Mid West Eyes sensationally upsetting OHS Hornets 45-38 to throw the cat among the pigeons.
The Hornets were second going into last weekend's clash but drop to third after the defeat, their second of the season.
Orange City Craig Harvey Mechanical, the reigning premiers, leapfrog the Hornets into second after a win over Life Studio Sportspower (48-41).
Both OHS and Orange City have five wins and two losses to their names so far in 2019 but the latter side skips ahead thanks to a superior percentage, but are now four points adrift of the competition-leading Life Studio guns.
The navy and lime bibs will be gunning to potentially extend that margin even further in this weekend's eighth round too, when they take on the now-second-placed Lions in a blockbuster top two clash.
Following the school holiday break they'll take on the Hornets in round nine too, with that two-game stretch set to be potentially telling in terms of the competition whole and Life Studio's title credentials.
In Saturday's other round seven clash Orange Physiotherapy Vipers continued their return to form and hung onto fourth spot too, by downing Orange City Epiroc by 30 goals.
Last year's beaten grand finalists have been somewhat sporadic to start 2019, having picked up consecutive victories just once so far this season, but Saturday's 69-39 victory was their fourth of the year and keeps them two points clear of the fifth-placed Life Studio Sportspower side.
The West Orange Motors Senior Competitions' second, third and fifth divisions are also headed up by undefeated sides. KWS 1sts, CSU Aggies Black and the Red Backs lead their respective Jeep, Skoda and Volkswagen Cups.
