The undefeated Life side prevailed won by 13 goals, 48-35, to hang on to the outright competition lead and hand Vipers their third defeat of the 2019 season, the latter side is clinging onto a top four spot on percentage.
Life Studio's win was a crucial in terms of the standings because the resurgent OHS Hornets once again claimed victory too, continuing their remarkable turnaround season after winning just two games in 2018.
The black and golds easily took care of the winless, cellar-dwelling Orange City Epiroc outfit, although Lions' gutsy effort cannot be questioned, they produced another determined performance.
Third-placed Orange City Craig Harvey Mechanical, the reigning premiers, kept in touch with the top two by way of an convincing, 67-38 win over Life Studio Mid West Eyes.
In Saturday's final sixth round game the promoted Life Studio Sportspower proved their strong start to the season is far from beginners' luck.
They scored their third win of the 2019 season by knocking off perennial semi-finalists Hawks Royals and doing so reasonably comfortably, on the scoreboard anyway, winning 56-41.
Although there's two tough games for both sides in between now and then, considering the opening six weeks of the season all eyes are now on July 20's match-up between the current top two.
Both sides are expected to win those two games in the lead-up to meeting for the second time this year though, Life Studio remains the only side to have beaten OHS Hornets, doing so with a 40-28 win in round two.
