That was the key for the Orange under-15 side at the Netball NSW Hart Senior State Titles as they fought their way to fifth position after their 19 games across three days.
The under-15s finished fifth in the 20-team competition, picking up 11 wins and three draws, only beaten by Northern Suburbs, Baulkham Hills Shire, Sutherland Shire, Liverpool and Penrith - four of those sides which finished above them.
The three draws - the most of any side - came against Wyong, Manly-Warringah and Wagga Wagga, while the under-15s scored a few nail-biting wins, including a one-point win over St George.
We had a couple of close wins which was showed the girls' mental strength.
- Under-15s coach Tegan Dray
Coach Tegan Dray said she was happy with the performance on the court - ignoring results they "played how we wanted them to play".
However, the results were the cherry on top.
"They were really in the game and had very few lapses in concentration, which across three days is really impressive," Dray said.
"We had a couple of close wins which was showed the girls' mental strength, and it's much better to be on the end of a one-point win than a one-point loss.
"The draws were very intense, you have many things where you think back and think you should have won it but but in the end it is what it is."
Dray added the final game against Penrith, which while it was a loss, was the best showing of the tenacity, skill, and effort her charges put into the weekend, nearly stopping the Sydney side from finishing in second spot.
"Although we lost it was a fantastic game and showed the fighting spirit they had all weekend," she said.
Meanwhile, the under-17s side finished in the middle of the table, place 10th after their weekend on the court.
The side picked up 10 wins and a draw from 19 games across the long weekend.
