The side claimed the Western leg of the Country Cup, overcoming hosts Dubbo 4-3 and beating Wagga Wagga 3-2, Shoalhaven 2-1, and Eurobodalla 4-1 in their final game.

The last three of those sides were complete unknowns to Orange, and coach Matt Savaro said each of his charges had played at "two or three levels" above where he thought they were, and everything fell into place for the side.

"They stepped up in the whole spectrum of playing," Savaro said.

"They backed each other up and they let the ball do the work."

He said one passage of play in the side's first game against Shoalhaven, starting with a goal kick and ending in a goal at the other end only passed through four or five players but instilled belief in the side.

It's help cap off a terrific 2019, as the side has all but wrapped up the Western Youth League competition, where they're one of two Orange outfits in the seven-team competition, one game clear with the final match - against winless Lithgow - held this weekend.

Meanwhile, the under-16s and under-13s boys also took to the pitch for Orange over the weekend, with the under-16s recording three losses and a draw from their four games, and the under-13s two losses and a draw.
