The state government committed $355,000 to expand the Travelling Film Festival to 13 regional areas, including Orange, Lismore, Singleton, Griffith and Broken Hill, from next year.
The funding will be additional to a $5 million boost the state NSW Government will provide to the festival over the next four years.
Minister for the Arts Don Harwin made the announced of the $1.2 million a year funding last week.
"This new funding is an annual increase of over 20 per cent - demonstrating just how important the screen sector is to our community," he said.
Mr Harwin said the festival has grown in attendance by more than 80 per cent since 2009, to become one of the leading international film festivals.
He said the NSW screen sector supports nearly 10,000 jobs.
The state government also provided financial support for 17 of the festivals films and mini-series this year.
