The Canberra based artist will bring more than 30 pieces of hot-blown glass from her collection which explores the importance of a mother's touch.

The art was created with the assistance of 17 mothers who were tasked with choosing a colour which best represented each of their children.

The team of mothers, which included a parliamentarian, an obstetrician, a stay-at-home mum and an engineer, blew into the hot glass which Mrs Newton then hugged wearing heat-resistant fabric.

The finished pieces were then placed on stands based on the height of their children's bellybuttons.

Mrs Newton said she became interested in the important impact touch has on the relationship between mother and child while studying glass blowing at Australian National University.

The mother of four children, two of which were born at the Orange hospital, said since graduating in 2016 she has had the opportunity to travel to Milan and the United States with her work.

"I had been a stay-at-home mum and my husband actually started the enrollment process with ANU, since then I've been very lucky," she said.

Mrs Newton will give an artist talk at the gallery at 5.30pm on Friday, prior to the shows opening.

Her pieces are $900 each and sold as part of the family they belong to.

The show will run until July 28.
