The Orange Multicultural Network held its first interfaith discussion which included members from the Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Baha'i and the Aboriginal communities.
The members discussed ways of increasing public knowledge of the different faiths which were growing in prominence in Orange.
Orange City Council Migrant Support Officer Anni Gallagher said the group planned to create a resource for newly arrived residents with contact details of the different faith groups in Orange.
It was a way for people to take a moment and think about how we can work together

She said each of the different faith leaders would also provide an explanation of their beliefs to be collated on a pamphlet and distributed.
Eventually the group hope to provide information on end-of-life rituals for the different faiths which could be used at hospitals or palliative care providers.
"It'd be a way for the community to be educated on different faith backgrounds," Ms Gallagher said.
In addition to creating resources for public education, the Orange Multicultural Network will work towards hosting an event which would give attendees access to leaders to ask their questions on religion.
The Orange Multicultural Network are part of the team which put on the Harmony Day in March each year.
Ms Gallagher said this year they invited people from a wide range of faiths to light a candle and come together.
"It was a way for people to take a moment and think about how we can work together," she said.
From there the idea of increasing the conversation around faith acceptance was born.
Ms Gallagher said with the growing diverse population Orange was becoming an increasingly multi-faith city and increasing public awareness of the different groups was an important goal for the group.
They will meet next on July 17 to advance the ideas.
