Snow was forecast to fall as low as 800 metres on Monday, with Orange (863 metres) as well as Mount Canobolas (1395 metres) among the Central West centres tipped for a dusting.
That forecast came true at about 2pm, with snow falling in Orange CBD, not long after Cabonne crews had lowered the boom gathes on the access roads to the top of Mount Canobolas.

"Roads and Maritime Services will endeavour to maintain access along all major corridors within affected areas, including through salt spreading at key locations and using snow clearing equipment where necessary," the spokesperson said.
