A pre-season win over Panthers was more than enough to show Wanderers have the potential to be a force in this year's men's Premier League Hockey title race, and the young Orange side have a huge opportunity to prove that again when they host the Lithgow side in Saturday's opening round.

While that win over Panthers came in the nine-a-side format of the game and as a result probably needs to be taken with a grain of salt, it nonetheless a breakthrough result for Wanderers, one new skipper Logan Dolbel is hoping his side can replicate on Saturday.
"It was a good win, for sure," he said.
"We tried to get a bit earlier in the pre-season and a few things did come up that didn't quite work but once we got into that competition we slowed it down and focused on playing our game, and one thing we noticed was the young guys who were maybe a bit small in the past aren't so small anymore.
"We've grown up a bit as a side and that's given us a lot of confidence going into the season itself."
Dolbel admits he wasn't expecting to get the captaincy considering a few of the older heads in the side, but enters his tenure as skipper with the backing of his troops based on the system Wanderers used to decider their leader.
"It was pretty much a decision from the rest of the guys really, we kind of threw up a few names and then voted on them after that," he explained.
"It was a bit of a surprise considering the likes of [Alex Said] and Adam Skelton have been around the group a bit longer than me, I'm still a a bit of a newcomer but it's nice the the guys have that faith in me."
Wanderers' new skipper went on to say how much he's looking forward to leading the side, in what he's hoping will turn into a successful season.
"I'm really looking forward to it, it'll be good," he said.
"We've got a really good bunch of blokes together here this year and we've been training really well, and playing well in the pre-season too so we're excited for the year."
Wanderers face Lithgow Panthers from 12.30pm at Orange Hockey Centre in Saturday's season-opening round, while in the other round one game St Pat's host the returning Parkes United from 1.55pm, at Bathurst.
