Orange City Council hosted Activate Inclusion Sports Day at Orange PCYC, in conjunction with Sport NSW and Variety - the Children's Charity NSW/ACT.
The initiative focused on providing sporting pathways for students aged 5 to 18 years with a physical, intellectual or sensory disability.
The day also catered for students with learning and mental health difficulties.
It's wonderful, the students can experience playing side by side, often for the very first time.
- Sport NSW Chief Executive Officer Darren Simpson
Its aim was to provide all children with an opportunity to experience a variety of sports.
Organisers said the active sports day was offered to children who are often segregated from mainstream school physical education, due to a lack of adaption knowledge and adaptive equipment.
The children jumped, hopped, bounced and rolled through a variety of activities, to give them a sample of a variety of sports.

Sport NSW Chief Executive Officer Darren Simpson said he was delighted to collaborate with Variety and Orange City Council.
"I hope the program inspires the participants to take part in regular sporting opportunities in their local community," Mr Simpson said.
Variety - the Children's Charity NSW/ACT Chief Executive Officer David Sexton said every child, no matter their level of ability should be able to enjoy the fun of playing sport.
"Every child deserves the chance to have a go at playing sport. We are proud to partner with Sport NSW and Orange City Council, so kids of all abilities have the opportunity to try different sports in a fun and inclusive environment," he said.
"It's wonderful, the students can experience playing side by side, often for the very first time."
Students from several schools around the region took part in an opening ceremony then rotated through the sports activities.
