He and his partner moved from Melbourne after she gained a job at Newcrest.
"I've always liked health and science and medicine and that's how the cards fell," he said.
"It's nice to recommend something and they come back a week or a month later saying it really helped."

Safety first
The Ophir Hotel has introduced a courtesy bus which will offer a free shuttle service for patrons on the weekends.
Drinkers will have the chance to jump onboard the bus on Friday and Saturday evenings each week, as well as Sunday afternoons when Orange CYMS Rugby League plays at home.
The bus will pick players and supporters up from Wade Park and take them to the Ophir, to celebrate or commiserate.
Patrons can call the Ophir to book a pick up from their Orange address after 5.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Ophir barman Wayne Bennett estimated about 30-40 people used the service on its second Saturday night in operation and seemed "pretty happy" with it.
