Mr Cooke, who is heading the Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party's Senate ticket for NSW is also running the campaign for Sam Romano.

And he's doing it all only a few weeks after a similar double load in the state election.

That saw his role as campaign manager for Phil Donato's re-election bid for the seat of Orange prove successful but his bid for an Upper House seat fell short.

Mr Cooke this week revealed his hectic workload.

"I've had as limited as four hours sleep per night, on several nights," he said.

Mr Cooke said he did not get a shot at running for the lower house seat of Calare.

"That opportunity didn't present for me and I maintain my interest in Upper House representation. I'm particularly interested in the Senate. I like to prepare, with time, quality legislation that will have an impact on the community."

He said a normal day started early by reading the media before consulting party officials and hitting the road.

"I've been travelling throughout rural and regional NSW and connecting with a number of different people and organisations," he said.

"I've met mayors and councils and tried to understand the challenges they face and the disconnect from them with various other tiers of government and the funding shortfalls and the infrastructure issues."

He said he was struck by one meeting with farmers at Walgett who told him they had a solution to a problem that would put $40 million into the local community every year but no one would listen to them.

"There is no one from government connecting with them so I went out of my way to meet these people and tell them I would be someone who would listen and take their concerns and their solutions and try to make them tangible," he said.

"They were so surprised because they have never seen a senator or a senate candidate ever set foot in their district.

"Essentially we're the credible alternative. It's because of [major parties'] mistakes I'm running, people have had enough of them."
