Orange City Council has voted to introduced a two-hour limit on the southern side of the street between William Street and 18 Dora Street in response to concerns from several residents and a business.

According to a report to the City of Orange Traffic Committee, residents at 4-18 Dora Street cannot park on their properties and rely on street parking.

"This precinct is now heavily used by workers in the locality who often park all day, which has led to difficulties for residents to find convenient and available parking in proximity to their homes," the report said.

The recommendation also made provisions to implement a residential parking scheme for the residents, exempting them from the time limit.

Residents in Kite Street received similar treatment in 2016 due to staff from the Department of Primary Industries parking in front of their homes and they struggled with basic tasks such as unloading groceries.

The Central Western Daily understands parking on William Street has been at a premium since a call centre started operating from the government offices.

The report said two-hour parking would provide extra spaces for clients needing to access Canobolas Family Pet Hospital and Psychological Solutions across the road.

Psychological Solutions director Andrew Roberts said staff could usually access parking, even if they had to walk a little further, but clients running late for appointments sometimes struggled.

"It would be good to have more two-hour parking space for clients."
