MORE than 7000 people have cast pre-poll votes in Orange ahead of Saturday's federal election.

The early voting centre, located at 121-125 Moulder Street, opened its doors on Monday, April 29, and in its first 12 days saw 7233 votes cast, according to the Australian Electoral Commission.
There has been something of a steady increase in the number of pre-poll votes cast, with 341 recorded on the first day more than two weeks ago, and a whopping 1170 on Monday.
For the past week there has been more than 580 individual votes cast on each day.
The early voting centre opens daily at 8.30am, and will be operating until Friday.
There will be at least 25 voting centres in and near Orange which will be open on Saturday. Those polling places open at 8am and and close at 6pm, when votes will begin to be counted.
