Mr Romano, who is also an Orange councillor, said there was a lack of water, jobs and major road access to Orange.
I could try and do that if I speak their language.
- Sam Romano, Shooters Fishers and Farmers candidate
The Shooters Fishers and Farmers party representative said he gained the view after talking to people in the Calare electorate but said he had not spoken to people who had recently migrated to Orange.
"I could try and do that if I speak their language," he said.
Mr Romano said the government plan, announced earlier this year to encourage newly-arrived immigrants to settle outside of capital cities, "is not gonna work.
"It's about infrastructure, the government has failed to improve our infrastructure, it's not about the migrants coming here," he said. "We welcome anybody to come to this electorate."
He called on the government to provide more dams, water security and jobs for the electorate.
"We don't have enough water for starters, we're all on water restrictions, the transport corridors have not been upgraded," he said.
"Even if we get 100 out of 2300 people that come to Orange or to this electorate we are still in dire straits with the water security. We don't have the water security for ourselves."
"This government is saying they're going to centralise this electorate and make people from overseas move out here and get jobs. Well there [are] no jobs. We need to create jobs."
Mr Romano said the government had 'forgotten' the electorate because it was a safe seat. "Our federal member [Andrew Gee] is not talking to people," he said.
