There have been times when Orange has come close to securing the facilities for the park only to have plans fall over and nearby businesses, councillors and residents, unable to see eye to eye.
We admit there are probably plenty of people who are fed up with reading about it, or maybe even writing about it ...
However you feel about it, it's clearly an issue that will go down in Orange City Council's history as one of the great examples of how difficult it is to get a group of disparate people to agree over a contentious issue.
Cr Taylor was correct when he said council is considered "a joke" as a result of this issue and handing the money back wasn't an option.
Of course the ongoing saga took another unexpected turn last week when councillor Glenn Taylor said there was a real concern that the state government would request council return about $200,000 allocated for the park toilet complex if it could not find a suitable use for the money.
For those who have lost track of all the twists and turns: late last year plans for the Robertson Park toilet block were knocked back by council after they were initially approved.
Cr Taylor was correct when he said council is considered "a joke" as a result of this issue and handing the money back wasn't an option.
It would be sad to see the money go back to the government simply because council could not agree on where to spend it.
Sadly getting people to agree on a location is no easy task as Cr Taylor knows only too well.
Now it seems the toilet debate has expanded even further with several other toilet sites proposed.
How and where council will spend the state government money must be decided and quickly.
The community, and it seems the state government, don't want this debate to continue any longer.
While toilets in Robertson Park are something visitors and residents have long pushed for, council's inability to work together may see the money spent elsewhere.
At the moment council is also considering building toilets at the showground, Perry Oval on Clinton Street, John Lomas Skate Park near the Moulder Park velodrome ot Glenroi Oval.
It's time for the toilet humour to end and a decision to be made.
