I would like to voice my opinion on the new sporting facilities Orange City Council and Calare candidate Stephen Bisgrove have been commenting about. Neither position that has been suggested sounds feasible to me.

The state government offered to fund this sporting complex at the state elections. This would mean a state-of-the-art complex, therefore we would need a huge area.
Why not the old trotting track off the Mitchell Highway? Close to the CBD, convenient for all, no danger to pedestrians, safe for vehicles and would not affect the locals in any way.
Talk is cheap, action is needed by our council to follow up what the state government promised. Even part of the funding would go a long way.
In its wisdom, the council could add a much-wanted and overdue caravan park within the area. This would also help boost tourism.

Our lovely town needs to be put back on the map, besides just food and wine, as we are being left behind by other towns.
New businesses need to be approached and created - the sooner the better. Why should locals have to travel to other towns to shop? There are so many vacant shops and buildings just waiting for a tenant.
