Central West Police District Chief Inspector Peter Atkins said the Suzuki sustained "some damage but was not totally destroyed."
He said police have seized the vehicle from the scene near Moulder Street for forensic examination.
Fire crews took about 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

In a separate incident a man in his 50s was assaulted outside a house in Bundarra Place at 9.30pm on Friday.
Chief Inspector Atkins said the man suffered facial injuries that required him to be taken to a Sydney hospital for surgery.
He said police were still ascertaining the circumstances of the incident and would speak to the victim.
And in another incident, a woman, 31, from Orange was arrested after a service station in Manildra was broken into about 4 am on Sunday.
Chief Inspector Atkins said a nearby house was also broken into and a car stolen around the same time.
He said the woman was assisting police enquiries into the service station incident.
