The new logo is a move away from the stylised Sturt's desert pea flower and the university took to social media to say its new brand reflected "who we are and what we do".

"We are Charles Sturt University and we never stand still," CSU posted online on Wednesday morning.

"This isn't just about our visual identity, though that is important. We are focused on enhancing our student experience.

"From the day you think about coming to university, during your study and right through to being part of our Charles Sturt alumni community."

CSU first flagged a potential change to its name, logo and brand in January as part of its upcoming 30^th birthday celebrations and it was met with a strong reaction from the community.

A petition called for the name change idea to be abandoned and it attracted more than 6200 signatures.

At the time, CSU's deputy vice chancellor Jenny Roberts said the university was open to feedback from the community on any changes and held public consultations before it eventually dropped the name change.

On Wednesday, CSU said via social media that it would continue to deliver world class research to our regions to ensure we provide social and economic benefit to our communities.

"We want everyone to know that we are dedicated to creating a world worth living in, and we know you are too," the post read.

"We will also continue to deliver world-class research to our regions to ensure we provide social and economic benefit to our communities."
