NSW Police state rural crime co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said the incident occurred on April 19.

"Police from the Rural Crime Prevention Team issued an 18-year-old man from Molong with an infringement notice for the offence of Enter Private Land to Hunt," he said.

"The man was detected during Operation Ambush on the Lemongrove Road, The Marra."

Operation Ambush is an ongoing operation being conducted by the Rural Crime Prevention Team that targets illegal hunting and trespassing offences in the region.

"The operation was a great success and highlighted the unit's ongoing commitment to protecting landholders from persons illegally entering their properties and hunting without permission," Det Insp Whiteside said.

During the operation, legal action was taken against various individuals for hunting without permission, dog offences, and driving and drug offences.

"Police also conducted stock inspections, business inspections on licensed premises, and random breath testing," Det Insp Whiteside said.

Members of the NSW Department of Primary Industries hunting team were also deployed in support of the operations.

Det Insp Whiteside said people who are "doing the right thing and hunting while properly licensed and with the relevant permissions have nothing to fear".

"Police are targeting offenders who wilfully trespass on properties and hunt, often damaging and stealing property along the way," he said.

Anyone who detects people hunting or trespassing on their property should call triple-0 immediately.
