An Orange man aged in his 50s died in a single-vehicle crash between Orange and Bathurst on Thursday afternoon.

At about 1.15pm emergency services were called to the scene at Vittoria Road, near Koomoorang Road, about 25 kilometres south-east of Orange, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
A passing motorist had found the car crashed and the male driver - and sole occupant of the vehicle - had died at the scene.

Neither the cause of the crash or the identity of the driver was known.
It was the second fatal crash on the region's roads in less than eight hours after another man died when a station wagon left the Castlereagh Highway north of Mudgee and hit a tree about 6am.
