Given that not all want assistance we should not be closed down to those who desperately need help.

I have experienced homelessness in youth through volunteering at a legal centre in Kings Cross called the Shopfront, a free advice service for eligible youth under 25 years old with criminal matters. It is there that I came across many homeless kids.

In these circles there is what is called the trifecta for homelessness which affects these vulnerable people: without money, they cant pay rent; without a home base they can't go to an interview to get a job; and without a job they can't earn money.

That people can be homeless is sad, but in Orange and the unforgiving cold winter it is even more challenging.

I, and many others, would like to address this, and I am asking Orange City Council if they can assist. I wonder if Orange mayor Reg Kidd can get some momentum for a solution.

I am happy to apply for a grant - which has to be made through an organisation like a council - which could assist the homeless through hot showers paid for, warm sleeping bags supplied, and hot meals.

The tax deductible sleeping bags for the homeless are warm and waterproof.
