The Cabonne Country Balloon Glow will feature the spectacle of balloons lighting their burners in the dark at the Canowindra Showgrounds.
With a food and wine market setting up for the night, challenge founders Jan and Graham Kerr said the balloon glow has traditionally been a public highlight of the week's ballooning.
Around 10,000 people are expected to attend the glow, with performers Amitie, Kristen less Morris, Eagle and the Wolf and Alikinetic Dance on board to keep the crowds entertained.
Orange360 General Manager, Caddie Marshall said the April 19-28 balloon challenge helps promote the wide-ranging appeal of the Orange region, with pilots and spectators traveling from around the world to take part in the week long balloon festival.
"How fantastic is it to have a renowned and well-respected sporting challenge in Canowindra, Australia's home of hot air ballooning?" she said.
"Once again our local operators are really putting out region on the map and giving locals and visitors alike a reason to come out and enjoy everything we have to offer, all year round."
Saturday's afternoon program will start at 3pm with dance groups and entertainment, and the Balloon Glow will start at 7pm.
Tickets are $30 for adults and free for children under 17-years-of-age. They are available online through Eventbrite or on the gate.
