The incident occurred at about 4.15pm on Monday, when the car apparently collided with the highway car at the southern intersection of the Northern Distributor and the Mitchell Highway.

One officer was in the police vehicle who was uninjured, while four people were in the other car were assessed on the scene.
The four people in the other were not trapped by the accident, which is believed to have occurred at 75 kilometres per hour.
One occupant has been taken to hospital with chest pain, while the other three only have minor injuries.
Traffic is being controlled by police while emergency services including ambulance and fire crews are on the scene, but the road is still open.
