AS Airbnbs grow in popularity, a second business has started in Orange to manage them.
Stuart Arantz has been managing short-term rentals for seven years as he gradually renovated properties.
"I did up houses for the mining boom that was catching on back then," he said.
He thought at the time he would move back overseas, but the bug caught and he kept renovating and leasing.
Operating under the name Yourstay Group, he and wife Bec now manage six of their own properties and have recently started taking on management duties for other Airbnb owners, from the listing if there is not one already, to bookings, cleaning and lawn maintenance.
"We would like to build the management side of it, we're targeting niche, handpicked properties," Mr Arantz said.
Servo to courier
JAYA Avirneni and Ramesh Atluri are never far from a business opportunity.
Previously running the United service station on Byng Street for the past decade, Mr Avirneni decided to sell earlier this year and open a Pack and Send with Mr Atluri in William Street.
Opening three weeks ago, packaging and logistics solutions.
"We found there was a requirement for it - we handle a lot of valuable items," Mr Avirneni said.
"If you wanted to send a picture or a painting, you couldn't find a way here, you would have to go Penrith - we can move anything from anywhere."
Miss Mary moves
MISS Mary Mac has been a fixture in Anson Street for seven years, but it's about to move to the main street.
Owner Libby Kavanagh and her husband bought the building at 125 Summer Street at the end of last year and will move the women's clothing store into it, with Monday, April 29 expected to be the first official day of trade.
She said her boutique had been trading well and of Summer Street retail conditions, she said the section of the CBD seemed to be becoming the new fashion shopping area.
The Anson Street store will continue to trade until Wednesday.
Ms Kavanagh said the store used to be home to J&J Brides and Formals until owners Jeanette and John Coote decided to retire.
"We've done a beautiful, big fitout," she said.
"It's an amazing big space."
