Event coordinator Graeme Eggleston said there were 20 camels in the race program, double last year's, due to increased effort being put in to secure a large field.
Hookemup from South Australia won the main race.
"It was a very, very big crowd and certainly bigger than last year," Mr Eggleston said.
The event was held to raise money for children's charity Give Me Five for Kids to purchase equipment for the children's ward at Orange hospital.
"It's a charity where all the money stays local," Mr Eggleston said.

In addition to the seven-race program, there was a wide range of activities including markets, gumboot throwing, toy camel races, fancy dress, and belly dancers.
Chontelle Jannese was one of the jockeys who clung on during the 400 metre races and rode Live Action into third place in race three.
Miss Jannese said she has been riding camels for four years and rode for Oakfield Ranch, which is based at Port Stevens and had eight camels at the event.
"I bought a camel and then I met a whole heap of these guys," Miss Jannese said.
"They conned me to jockey because I was small."
Miss Jannese said when it comes to racing all she does is hold on.
"It's pretty adrenaline pumping, it's pretty good really, it's a bit nerve-wracking you never know what they are going to do or what's going to happen," she said.

Among those who attended the charity event were Zsuzsanna and Zsofia Strike with Thomas Varga who came from Sydney to spend the weekend with Zsuzsanna Strike's father-in-law in Orange and they thought they'd go see their first camel races.
Orange residents David, Amy and Grahame Beldham also decided to spend a family day out and noted that it was different to horse racing.
"We would come again, it's good for the kids," Grahame Beldham said.
It was also the first time Wendy Pora and Brooke Ward from Sydney have seen camels race.
"We are staying at Cowra with my brother so I thought I would bring [Brooke] along to see some camel races, she's never seen anything like it," Ms Pora said.
"I've ridden camels and that was at Broken Hill but I don't know if they ever had races, it's a long time ago."
"I didn't know there would be people on the camels, it was a lot busier than I expected," Brooke said.
Two people who have enjoyed watching the races every year were Nicholas Honeyman and Louis Hannan who dressed up and handed out Easter eggs at the event.
