A man has been convicted of hindering police and given an eight-month conditional release order for helping another man to escape on a stolen motorbike.
Magistrate Jacqueline Trad told Jordan Smith, 25, of Nelson Place his actions made it more difficult for police to do their job.
According to police, his acquaintance was sitting on a stolen Honda CRF 450 motorbike outside Smith's home at 12.20pm on April 4.
Police attended after receiving information about the stolen vehicle and when they arrived, Smith pushed the man on the motorbike so he could flee towards South Terrace and then Smith ran from police.
According to information tendered to the court, Smith jumped several fences and was pursued through backyards before entering Davidson Court, where he was found by police in a front yard and arrested.
