An Adam Scimone strike proved enough for Western NSW Mariners FC to finally break their 2019 Football NSW Men's National Premier League 3 duck on Saturday, and they'll be gunning to back that first victory up at Jack Brabham Park on Monday.

Scimone's goal was the only one in the Mariners' 1-nil victory over the 11th-placed Granville Rage at Bathurst's Proctor Park on Saturday afternoon, which will give the side a mountain of confidence going into Monday's rescheduled round three clash at Orange.
The Mariners host Bankstown United FC at Bernie Stedman field on Monday morning in a clash that, if Western continues to build, presents an excellent opportunity for the side to score back-to-back successes.
Bankstown sits 10th to the Mariners' 14th standing and while last weekend's win was the first of 2019 for the Mariners they have been improving week-to-week.
Although the scoreline doesn't suggest it on face value their performance in the week prior's 6-1 loss to the Stanmore Hawks was encouraging, but for a 10-minute, five-goal blitz at the end the Mariners matched it with the heavyweight, second-placed Hawks.
That's partly why Western's win over Granville wasn't entirely surprising, after shoring up those defensive errors.
Bankstown will be full of running too after scoring a victory of their own last weekend though.
They took down the powerful Inter Lions 1-nil on Saturday afternoon, Mitchell Cross' first-half goal proving the match-winner there.
The Mariners face Bankstown from 11am on Monday.
