David Keith Edwards, 27, of Harris Street, Bourke, was charged with five offences relating to kidnapping, damaging property with intent to injure, and resisting arrest with a weapon.
He was refused bail before Orange Bail Court on Thursday and will spend the Easter long weekend behind bars before fronting the Orange Local Court on Tuesday.
The charges come after the Edwards allegedly detained two men in a siege before setting the Gelnroi house on fire on Wednesday night.

Edwards allegedly approached the property in Garema Road about 7pm to speak to the occupants, an 18-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, who, according to police, he didn't know.
Central West Police District chief inspector Peter Atkins said Edwards allegedly produced a knife and threatened the two men.
The elder of the two fled through a door to the unit and notified police, while the younger man was unable to escape and remained in the house with Edwards.
Police attended the unit, where they established a crime scene, set up a perimeter and began negotiating with the man.
Chief inspector Atkins said neighbours were evacuated some time into the operation.
The property was set ablaze at about 11pm, with police alleging the fire was deliberately lit by Edwards, who was arrested by police after he allegedly threatened officers with a hammer.
Chief inspector Atkins confirmed he was tasered.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly, and no one was injured.
Both the 18-year-old and 59-year-old were treated at the scene as a precaution, but are believed to be uninjured, while a police officer who was bitten by a dog during the incident was also treated on the scene.
Edwards has been charged with take/detain with intent to obtain advantage, damage property by fire with intent to injure, destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and resist officer in execution of duty.
