The group will hold an annual knit-a-thon at the Orange City Library on May 11 to create woolen blankets for the Wrap With Love charity.
To ensure they can knit and crochet blankets for those in need, the group has called out for donations of wool or acrylic eight ply yarn.
The Purlers have been meeting at the library for more than ten years and in that time have created more than 2800 blankets for the charity.
Beautiful knitted and crocheted blankets have been distributed here in Orange to our local homeless, to Housing Plus, Ronald McDonald House, Mission Australia Benjamin Grove Aged Care Facility and Lyndon Women's Program.
Blankets from Orange have also gone to all corners of the globe, most recently to Southern Somalia, Ukraine and Papua New Guinea.
So far this year the Purlers have created 115 blankets, so they are on track to surpass last years total of 605.
Librarian Sean Brady said The Purlers are now an institution at the library, they've been at it so long.
"Now they need your donations to keep their efforts going," he said.
The Orange Purlers have invited anyone who would like to learn to knit or crochet to join them at their annual meeting and knit-a-thon in the library on May 11 from 11am until 3pm.
Donors can drop in wool to the library on the knit-in day or at anytime before the Wrap With Love sit-in.
