The 55 inch UHD curved screen Samusung Smart television was one of several items which were stolen during a break and enter of a house in Bauer Place between 5.30pm on February 23, 2017, and 6.45am the next morning.
During an investigation police found a finger print on a telescope case and on March 14, 2017, the fingerprint was confirmed as belonging to Corey Dixon, 25, formerly of Davidson Court.
According to police, officers then went to his Davidson Court home and while speaking to him they saw the television set up and in use.
A search warrant was undertaken and confirmed that it was the television that had been reported stolen.
On Monday Dixon was sentenced in Orange Local Court by magistrate Jacqueline Trad who gave him a 15-month full-time jail sentence with a 10-month non-parole period for stealing the television.
The jail sentence was dated from April 15 this year meaning he could be eligible for parole on February 14, 2020.
Ms Trad took into account one month and 13 days that Dixon had been held in custody for the matter.
Dixon initially pleaded not guilty to the offence but changed the plea to guilty on the day of hearing.
However, Dixon was already in custody when he appeared in court via audio visual link.
Solicitor John Song said Dixon was in jail for breaching a suspended jail sentence, which he was on at the time of the February 2017 offence, and until Monday he would have been eligible for parole on October 21.
"Mr Dixon uses drugs, he wasn't under the influence of drugs at the time, he was funding his drug habit," Mr Song said of the February 2017 offence.
Ms Trad also convicted Dixon, without further penalty, for failing to appear in Orange Local Court on March 19, 2018, when he was on bail for the matter involving the break and enter.
