A SMALL parcel of commercial land beside the railway line has sold for "considerably more" than expected, demonstrating continued demand for sites in Orange.
The Kite Street block, accessed via Endsleigh Avenue and belonging to the state government, was auctioned on Tuesday afternoon for $410,000.
Blowes Real Estate principal Gary Blowes said he was never privy to the reserve, but he would have expected about $300,000 for the site.
"The bidding started at $150,000 and it was over in seven minutes," he said.
"It just goes to show Orange is still a strong area - for a small block of land with no real road frontage, it was a great result."
A Sydney bidder beat four from Orange, but it remains unclear what the site will become.
