WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

• A Day tn the Green is a series of music concerts held at wineries across Australian and New Zealand - with around 30 shows held at 18 different venues between October and March each year.
  
• The shows attract crowds of between 5000 and 17,000 depending on the location's capacity.
• The regional festivals encourage crowds to spend the weekend exploring a winery location, which means tourism benefits which extend beyond the vineyards.

MUSIC

• A Day on the Green attracts huge names, with both international acts and Australian stars travelling to regional areas to take part.
  
• Typically the concerts feature three to five artists performing from late afternoon into the evening.
  
• International artists who have performed for A Day on the Green include Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Fleetwood Mac, Leonard Cohen, The Beach Boys and of course, Elton John.
  
• Australian artists who have performed at A Day on the Green include INXS, Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Barnes, John Butler Trio, John Farnham, John Paul Young, The Living End, The Waifs and The Whitlams.

TICKETS

• Tickets prices and types vary from venue to venue, depending on the capacity of the location and who is headlining.
  
• A general admission ticket to the event at Hunter Valley's Bimbadgen Winery with James Blunt headlining last year cost about $110. Platinum tickets sold for around, $200, Gold for $170 and Silver for $150. The different tickets got patrons closer to the stage.
  
• The now sold-out general admission tickets to see Elton John at Mt Cotton's Sirromet Wines in 2020 started at about $130, with fans now asked to cough up about $1500 for the VIP package, which includes a seat in the first five rows, champagne and a welcome gift, a backstage tour and onstage photo opportunity with the King of Pop's piano.
• Tickets for A Day on the Green events are purchased via Ticketmaster.

IS IT ONLY FOR WINE LOVERS?

• The concerts are licenced events which means no BYO. Alcohol is available for purchase but the vibe is not your typical Australian music concert booze fest, it's a bit classier.

WHERE DID IT COME FROM?

• The very first a day on the green was held on Australia Day, January 26 2001 at Mt Eliza's Morning Star Estate, with Australian artists Renee Geyer, James Morrison and Stephen Cummings
• It is run by husband and wife team Michael and Anthea Newton from Roundhouse Entertainment, based in Melbourne.

WHEN WILL ORANGE KNOW FOR SURE?

• A Day on the Green promoters, Roundhouse Entertainment, have been working with local councils to visit prospective venues around Orange over the past few months. Orange mayor Reg Kidd said he believed plans were well progressed, and it is understood an event is possible as early as November this year, with organisers narrowing it down to three wineries close to the centre of town.
• While the Central Western Daily has reached out to wineries, they've been unable to confirm.
