The car - a Mitsubishi Triton - was found alight near South Terrace at 7am on Friday and was completely destroyed by flames, leaving melted glass and cracked car parts in the middle of the park.

Central West Police District Chief Inspector Peter Atkins said the car was believed to be stolen from a property near the intersection of Spring and Dalton streets some time on Thursday night.
It's the second car burned out in a little over 24 hours, with another vehicle set alight on Thursday morning just off Molong Road.

The destroyed Triton marks a return to one of the city's car burning hot spots: it is believed to be the fifth car set alight in Cootes Park since December 1 last year, but the first in daylight hours.
It's the 16th car set alight this year.
Chief Inspector Atkins urged people to contact Orange police on 6363 6399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if they had any information relating to the theft or the fire.
