One of the first gated communities in Orange will have its opening on Saturday.
Contemporary Homes, run by Michael and Kelli Paddison and Ken and Sue Barber, is developing seven homes in the Telopea Terrace estate off Telopea Way, north Orange.
Mr Paddison said access to the homes would be blocked to outsiders via a lockable electric gate that only the residents and emergency services would be able to enter.
He said the three and four bedroom homes were all on individual titles with prices ranging from $510,000-$519,000.

Mr Paddison said the 190 square metre homes were on 350-500 square metre blocks.
He said the estate was aimed at "security-conscious" buyers.
"The gated estate is going to be targeted at over-55s," he said.
"People want security. They want to know they're safe. They want to know they can go away [on holidays] for three months and their place is safe."
He said he believed the format and layout of this gated community was unique in Orange. However he said there was a different gated estate on Matthews Avenue.
The Bluestone Lake estate on Cedar Street beside the former bluestone quarry, which is currently selling, will also be a gated estate.
Mr Paddison said the first three properties were completed and would be open for inspection on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 from 10am-1pm.
A coffee cart and sausage sizzle will also be on site.
He said the next two properties would be ready in one month with the other two due in six weeks time.
Mr Paddison said features included wide doorways to allow for wheelchairs and low-maintenance gardens.
Each property has a double garage accessed via a shared driveway.
He said a medical centre was also under construction adjacent to the estate.
It will be open to the public in the next three months with a general practitioner and podiatrist available.
The Telopea Terrace estate is over the road from the North Orange Shopping Centre and up the road from the Waratah Sports Club.
